Led by a Professor from the National Heritage Institute DAILY TOUR PROGRAM
DAY 1 - Departure from U.S.A. to Tunis
DAY 2 - TUNIS: Arrival at the Tunis-Carthage airport and transfer to hotel. Dinner reception and lecture by a professor from the National Heritage Institute. (D)
DAY 3 - TUNIS: After breakfast we will drive to Carthage where we will spend most of the day visiting the punic port, the Tophet, Byrsa Hill, the Carthage Museum and Antonine baths. (B,L)
DAY 4 - TUNIS: Our first stop is the National Museum of Bardo with its breathtaking collection of unique mosaics, statues and jewelry. Then we will explore the colorful souks. After lunch we will stop at the American cemetery before a visit to the charming village of Sidi Bou Said. (B,L)

DAY 5 - AIN DRAHAM: Today we leave Tunis to go to the Roman "bread basket" town of Thuburbo Majus. We continue to Dougga, the best preserved remains of the ancient cities in Tunisia. (B,L,D)
DAY 6 - SBEITLA: We start our journey by visiting Bulla Regia, a Numidian city famous for its sub-terrain villas with their magnificent mosaic floors. We continue to Makthar (Mactaris) developed during the Roman occupation in the second and third centuries A.D. Next we will visit Sbeitla (Sufetula) and explore a number of sites from the Roman and Byzantine periods.
DAY 7 - TOZEUR: As we enter the Sahara region, we stop at Gafsa and visit the Roman pools and the small museum. We continue our drive to the holy oasis of Nefta where we take a stroll in the massive palm tree plantation. We spend the night in Tozeur with its unique architectural marvels. (B,L,D)
DAY 8 - TOZEUR: Using four-wheel drive jeeps, we will drive to the mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza where the Berber populations have taken refuge for centuries. We return to Tozeur to visit the Dar Chraiet museum, the Arabian Nights attraction park and finish the day visiting the Sahara zoo. (B,L)

DAY 9 - GABES: Today we will drive across the sparkling salt lake "Chott Eldjerid" to Douz. After lunch, driving through the Sahara where many scenes of "Star Wars" took place. We will stop at Matmata to visit the Berbers "troglodytic" dwellings. (B,L,D)
DAY 10 - SOUSSE: An early morning start will take us to El Djem to visit the impressive Roman amphitheater. We will have lunch in Sousse followed by a walk inn the Medina (old town) and its Kasbah. (B,L)
DAY 11 - TUNIS: Another early start for a brief visit to Kairouan, a holy city dating back to the 7th century. We will continue North to El Houaria and visit "Les Grottes" old Roman quarries. Our last site to visit is Kerkouane a most interesting punic ruins. We return back to Tunis for a festive farewell dinner. (B,L,D)
